Lucian Blu had been mentally preparing himself for the upcoming days of Winter. He knew that there were important rituals and meetings to be done. A small black rabbit could seen hopping towards him. "Blu!" She skids to a stop in front of him in the nearly frozen grass. "Something is not right." Lucian pauses for a moment in his cave den. "Hmm?" That is when he noticed birds scattering right when the sound of a thunder could be heard. He hurries to the cave entrance. He narrowed his eyes at the horizon, looking at the heavily snow covered mountain.

The lighting strikes one of the rocks on the mountain, causing the heavy snow to fall. Not even a moment later, the entire layer of snow was next to fall. "Oh, goddess.." Lucian whispered under his breath. "Lilith! We got to alert the others in the area!" Lilith perks up before glancing at where he was looking at. The snow was picking up speed down the mountain. "If that hit our area...." She flattened her ears. "On it!" She takes off towards where her family was, alerting them of the snow avalanche.

The sounds of the said avalanche got louder and louder. He ran down the path towards where he knew a family of snow leopards would be. "There is a snow avalanche coming! You'll be safe in my den!" The parents nodded and picked up their two very young kittens. "Just follow up that path to the den! Hurry!" He glanced around to see where Lilith was.

Lilith was already showing the path to the den, encouraging them to run towards the den. She glanced at the rushing snow. "Blu!!" She flattened her ears. "Lili! Run for it!" Lilith took off towards the den once the last of the rabbits were heading there. Lucian ran behind the family and skids to a stop on the path right in front of the den's entrance. "It is big enough for all of us!" The family was uncertain but ran in anyway. Lucian watched the rabbits pour into the den. He was worried about Lilith.

The avalanche snow was at its peak of speed, rushing towards them. Lucian kept an eye out for Lilith as she was the last rabbit to be heading towards the den.

Lucian ran towards Lilith as soon as he sees her. "Lili!" The rabbit nearly fell, jumping over a rock. He glanced at the upcoming snow that had gotten closer to them than he realized. "Oh....f... Lili.. Do not hate me for this!" Lili tilts her head as she ran towards him. Once she got closer to him, he picked her up as he started to run towards the den. The rabbit yelped but understands why.

The snow was already teasing his paws. The family and the other rabbits yelled for them to get to the den. He flattened his ears, trying to boost his speed. He dared not to look behind him while he ran.

"Come on.. I can do this." He'd thought to himself as he ran. Right when he was almost at the den, the rushing snow hits him hard. Lilith yelled. The snow guided them nearly to the den's entrance, covering them up. The entrance was nearly blocked within minutes.

Lucian felt the snow covering up the both of them quickly. He closed his eyes, whining softly. "...." What felt like a half hour later, the snow grew still. He felt his heart raced. He let go of Lilith. "Lili.. you okay?" He whispered in their area of the snow. Lilith pants softly. "I think I hurt my paw but I am okay. We need to dig out."

Most of the rabbits within the den was already digging out the entrance. So was the parents of tthe two young cubs who had rabbits curled up around them.

Lilith yelled out from inside the snow, trying to alert anyone topside. "We are here!" Lucian sniffed for the den, knowing how he had made sure it was covered in his own scent. He starts to dig through the snow to try to get to the den. "Come on, Lili.. " The tiger striped kitty winced slightly as he moved to help her get through the snow.


About a hour later, Lilith popped her head out of the snow. The area around them were destroyed. Trees were down and broken. The paths were gone "Oh, Lucian.. Your home.." She struggles to get out of the snow. Lucian uses his paw to get out. She fell on her side right when one of the parents popped out of the den through a snow hole of the den. The parent saw her. "Are you okay, Ms Lilith?" The rabbit barely nodded. "Tend to him, please! We need a healer." Lucian was already nearly out of energy, helping his rabbit friend.

The parent nodded and rushed to the hole where Lucian was. They digged him out quickly. "Mr. Lucian!" He smiled slightly, struggling to get out of the snow. "Is everyone okay in the den?" He didn't care about his body at the moment. Just wanted to make sure that the family and the rabbits were safe.

"Thanks to you and Ms. Lilith, everyone is okay. The cubs are warm with the help of the rabbits." Lucian smiled one last time before he fell into a deep sleep to recover from the pain of the hit of the snow. The last thing he heard was someone calling for a healer....

Several days later, Lucian woke up in a warm den, surrounding by what seems to be medical herbs growing all around him. Lilith perked up once she realized he was awake. "Blu!" She smiled, rushing to him. The healer yelled to get her to stop. She frowned softly as she sat down by him. Lucian blinks when he saw her. "Lili.." He grunted as he slowly moved to lift his head up. "What happened?" Lilith chuckled. "You saved me and everyone. The pain from getting hit by the avalanche made you pass out... How are you feeling?" Lucian groaned softly. "In slight pain but I am okay.. I think.." He looked around. Lilith realized what he was doing. "You are at one of the healers' den.. It is okay.. Just rest." Lucian bent his head to nuzzle her softly despite the pain.

Lucian would heal completely in a few days, realizing just he is meant to be.. a Protector.

Poe and Alastor’s meeting was unconventional, but a fantastic story to tell to horrified faces years later. Without a family of his own and left to raise himself, Alastor used to live within the plains. One ordinary evening, Alastor had set out to hunt, and Poe was the unsuspecting victim of his hunger. Claws met fluff, teeth flashed, and Poe let out a shrill, horrible scream underneath his captor. It was enough to stun Alastor, giving Poe ample time to ramble the many reasons why he’d make a terrible dinner.

“I’ve never even had a friend before! I can’t die both friendless and on my birthday! That’d be a cri-“
“You don’t have any friends?”

Loneliness — it was a feeling both understood well. Alastor released the small hare, and Poe stepped back, eyes wide and wet. That day, the two found a friend in the other… only after Alastor swore off rabbit forever.

Together, they are a family who chose one another. Alastor runs most decisions by Poe, and Poe ensures the two of them never fall off schedule. Both view the other as a brother, and have sworn to put one another first, always.

The Schnee seemed like fate when the two stumbled upon it. Ma’ome who also loved and respected those of Poe’s species, and lived within the comfortable colder temperatures Alastor discovered he liked? Perfect — sign them up. They were an easy recruit, with both excited to welcome more faces into their fold and find a purpose in their life. Now, they attend their duties diligently and eagerly, shouldering the weight of their role together.

I love how the backstory for Zion and Snowdrop developed as I was writing it, especially the silliness of the 'scaring the poop out of her.' XD
