When Kainoa called to Kawika, it seemed he was too engrossed in his dancing and the music to hear him. He grinned widely and made his way over to the dance floor. He started dancing alongside his son. "Aloha Kawi. Mind if your old dad gives it a go? Maybe you can teach me some moves."
Kawika was so embarrassed by his dad's awful dancing that he pushed his paws against him. "No no, please." He laughed as he tried to shove him off the dance floor in a playful way. "That's not how you do it. Watch." Kawika showed him an easy dance that even his old dad would be able to do. Just a simple back and forth sway and side to side step. "See. Just feel the rhythm and move."
Kainoa chuckled at his son's obvious embarrassment. "What, you don't think I can dance?" He watched Kawika and tried to mimic his movements but stumbled and crossed his paws instead. "I don't think that's how it goes," he said lightheartedly. "Show me again."
Kawika spent a few more minutes trying to teach him the easy dance steps. Finally Kainoa was able to get a good groove and at least wasn't tripping over himself, or anyone else. They danced together with the others around them until the music started to die off and it seemed the event was coming to a close.
