Comments: I love this prompt! I found a lot of refs of clay pots I’d like to paint in the near future
I recently watched a digital painting tutorial that focused on the importance of edges. I’ve listened to videos on that topic before. However, the videos I watched were by traditional, not digital, painters. This artist used the smudge tool to make edges disappear….
It clicked and sounds so simple now. With traditional, I’d mix wet paint on canvas. But on digital, I tend to avoid the smudge tool. I just didn’t have faith in it. XD; I was attempting to make edges disappear by trying to mix up and paint the in-between colors to make it all blend. … Anyway XD smudging is way easier.
I’m happy with how this turned out. Of course, I could keep finessing but you’ve got to call it at some point. It was fun to paint something different from my norm. I usually paint food and plants. This technically has a plant, but there’s also a lot more wall and flooring than I usually paint.
I experimented a lot with it. I used new brushes. I also painted a lot of layers while getting used to brushes. I’d assumed they’d still peek through (like an underpainting), but they’re not visible. XD
Note: This art is best viewed by removing your glasses and/or stepping back away from your screen. lol
Edit, I’ve been staring at this and see two spots that I’ll change on my own copy for sure. Later.
Edit edit; The above edit was made a couple minutes after I posted. This one is hours later. I edited my original comment for clarity, hopefully. I also fixed multiple areas on this painting. I returned with fresh eyes and was less accepting of flaws than I was earlier. And noticed some I hadn’t seen. Anyway, just reporting in that my art file has been fixed. I’m not adding in the new copy. I’ll likely look at it a couple days from now and see new areas to fix, anyway. :}

Anyway, The whole point of drawing this was to do that satisfying technique where you duplicate your drawing to create the shadows. ... What didn't cross my mind was duplicating any of the leaves. XD;; They were all individually drawn. I enjoyed drawing this... didn't notice the time pass. So it worked out This one pixelated more than usual when I resized it

Comments: it’s a simple drawing… that I just kept adding to XD;
3/1 edit; I added this art the other day but it got deleted in one of the server migration rollbacks that are happening lately.
I looked through a couple of my past art threads. I wanted to find pieces of my own art to use as style inspiration. I remember a lot of the art I’ve drawn, but not all. For example, I didn’t remember drawing this Pegasus at all. Funny how I basically pulled a lot of the same moves again.
Whereas with the recent ostrich, I made different art decisions to purposely avoid the drawing I remembered in my mind.
So, that said, going down memory lane could backfire… so we’ll see. But I just want to gather pieces like “oh yeah, I used to always do this x way. I’d like to bring that back into my art”
…. But like, seriously, I even put spots on that horse too. XD; As I put spots on this horse, I was like “this is weird but oh well.” So I can’t believe I did that before. Well, I can. I make a lot of silly drawings during these events… but I also can’t.

Comments: omg. I said I’d stop commenting on the time spent but XD I meant for this to be a quick idea and then I finessed it.
I couldn’t decide what blending mode I wanted to use. So many were good. So I spent time just flipping modes back and forth
But I lost time also on the left starfish. My eyes know what I want. And I know what I want in theory. And there’s a disconnect between that and my hand. XD ugh. I’ll have to attempt fixing it on another day and see if it goes better

Comments: I used to do like at least one glitter drawing each event. But one year, I drew one that I feel I can’t top. So I stopped wanting to do glitter… but I wanted to do a gold, glittery horse for this. And, no surprise, am rusty. I think it turned out well for making it up from what I remember c:
Since I’ve been editing in my old art, it was of Default’s “weird bird” art request. I love how it looks like light sources are hitting it. And it was the first glitter art I’ve drawn that had multiple colors vs one solid color, but that was definitely the success of it
So, looking at this now, maybe glitter horse needed less glitter. I’ll try to remember that for another time. I make up the glitter from imagination. It would’ve been a lot different with a glittery horse ref. XD
